Description

DEEPSKY SPACE OBJECT | LRGB | WIDEFIELD
THE TWEEDLE DEE & TWEEDLE DUM STAR CLUSTERS

After a somewhat longer break, finally another one of my own shots ^^
Only a rather short exposure of about 3h24min, but always there :-)
After weeks of renovation work on my balcony, and now almost 2 weeks knocked out with multiple infections, I'm finally feeling a bit better again and my telescope is also back in its permanent place. So, to warm up for the coming fall/winter season, here's a fading image of the slowly fading summer Milky Way ;-)

Derived from the story, “Alice in Wonderland”, these two twinkling star clusters, somewhat on the edge of the summer Milky Way band, are called Tweedle Dee and Dweedle Dum :-)
NGC 6633, the Tweedle Dee star cluster (also called Graff's cluster, left in the image) is an open star cluster of Trumpler type III2m in the constellation of the Serpent Bearer on the ecliptic. It has a magnitude of 4.6 mag and an angular diameter of 20 arcminutes. The cluster is around 1,300 light years away from the solar system and has a diameter of around 8 light years. It contains almost 30 stars and is estimated to be 600 - 700 million years old.
IC 4756, the Tweele Dum star cluster (top right), is also an open star cluster of Trumpler type III2m but already in the constellation Serpens, which has an apparent magnitude of 4.6 mag.
