Description

A small colorized (relatively speaking) CME was captured on the 4th of May and I believe it is associated with sunspots AR3288 and AR3285. The series lasts 60 minutes and consists of 30 frames. One hour compressed into about 9 seconds. The resolution is about 100 miles per pixel or 90,000 miles from left to right, making the CME size about 30,000-40,000 miles. Looking towards the upper left, a wall of gas/plasma appears to be somewhat stationary. A minor eruption also takes place in the upper left that I would guess is associated with AR3285. Also visible are quite large magnetic loops doing their dance. One can only imagine the magnetic forces involved.
If you’re interested in a bit more about me and the telescope, feel free to watch a presentation that I gave to The Astro Imaging Channel (awesome site) on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm5boF-5hpc&t=3370s
