I started my Astrophotography journey in 2020 with a DSLR on Comet Neowise. I live in rural Devon with lovely dark skies which encouraged me to get more serious. I now have my dream setup complete - CEM70/Tak Baby-Q/ASI294MM-PRO and AA26C for broadband. I hope to build an observatory of some sort over the next year or so.
I've always had a passion for space and astronomy, growing up during the space race and Apollo Moon landings. After shooting Comet Neowise I upgraded to a Skywatcher Star Adventurer tracker with my Canon DSLR and 100-400mm lens. I then began planning to build a serious imaging system, starting with an Equatorial mount. I acquired my iOptron CEM70 in December 2020 and experimented with my Canon gear and my old Celestron Nexstar 5SE. I then built a mounting system, using the Primaluce Lab PLUS system, for my Canon 600mm f4 lens. I had some success shooting with my Canon DSLR and introduced an Astromechanics focuser to improve my focusing, using APT to control the mount and camera from an old laptop.
The next step was to move to a telescope and cooled astro camera. I bought a ZWO ASI533MC-Pro in March 2021 followed by my Takahashi FSQ-85EDX Baby Q in August 2021. I now have my first mono camera, an ASI294MM-Pro with a ZWO filter wheel and ZWO filters and sold my 533. More recently I added the AA26C OSC to use for broadband imaging.
