I live on the south shore of Long Island, New York and began dabbling in Astrophotography in the fall of 2020 during the height of the pandemic. I'm attempting to maximize the use of various photography assets I already own such as a Canon 500 f4 IS EF lens and various Canon bodies. I live in a highly light polluted region and my backyard is a Bortle 8 class sky. As a professional photographer, I have acquired excellent processing skills in Photoshop but I can see the limitations imposed by this program for Deep Sky images and have recently invested in PixInsight. I've purchased a SW EQ6-R Pro mount which I love, an ASI AIR Pro and I had an old Canon 70D body Astro-modified. I've even managed to rig a ZWO Electronic Auto Focuser on my Canon lens using a 3D printer timing belt! I'm starting to create images that I'm happy with but I have a long way to go in my learning curve. Next step is monochrome, narrowband and a dedicated cooled Astro camera. I can't wait!
