Lifetime (very amateur) Astrophotographer starting with very basic cameras and telescopes. How about a Kodak Instamatic held up to the eyepiece of a 60mm Tasco refractor with the help of my Mom? Still have some of those moon pictures. Many telescopes and cameras later really upped my game with a C14, mono planetary camera and RGB filters. Finally got some really good planetary images especially of Jupiter. Gave that up after a few years as atmospheric conditions here are so quirky. Clear skies all winter but conditions change rapidly. Best planetary results i ever got was shooting south over the water from the Florida Keys outside Marathon while attending the Winter Star Party. Finally put together two fairly serious deep sky rigs. A wide field setup using a William Optics GT81 triplet with reducer/flattener. And a longer focal length setup using a 130mm triplet and flattener. The best move was to construct a small 8' x 8' observatory in my backyard. It has a permanent pier with an Ioptron GEM45 mount. Didn't need a warm room as Southwest Florida only has two seasons, warm and hot 😁. Learning Pixinsight finally as I've never been big on processing. My favorite part of Astrophotography is data acquisition. So my final images are never as good as those of you who put the time into serious processing. Kudos to you all 😃. Maybe someday. Did just recently switch from APT to NINA. Wow! I'll never look back from that move.
