I have been an amateur astronomer since I was 7 when my father showed me Saturn in a 60mm JC Penney refractor back in 1972. I achieved my BA in Astronomy from San Diego State. In 1994, I started working for Meade Instruments Corp. as a technical representative and spent nearly 25 years in a variety of management roles from customer service to operations and sales. In 2019, I left Meade to join Agena Astro as Director of Operations.
I had always wanted to be an astrophotographer, but film photography never did it for me. It was only after starting with Agena that I took the plunge into astrophotography. It was necessary to learn the vast array of products that we stocked, and getting my hands on just about any telescope, camera, or mount in our inventory was important to supporting our customers. Once I started taking some images to learn how it all worked, I caught the bug. A 3-year, pandemic fueled, crash course in imaging and image processing got me up to speed, but the learning never stops.
I have never been a social media user so I look forward to being part of the AstroBin community where I can connect with fellow astronomers and customers.
Director of Operations, Agena Astro
