My interest in this hobby was reborn when I met Thomas Bopp about 8 years ago. True story: he was a courtesy shuttle driver for a major car dealership in Phoenix, Arizona. He was driving my wife home after she dropped off her car for service. On the ride home, during the course of their conversation, Dr. Bopp revealed to my wife that he was the co-discoverer of Comet Hale-Bopp. My wife called me to inform me of this fact. Of course, I was skeptical. But upon their arrival at our residence, sure enough, I saw it was him! I recognized him from many photos which were published during Comet Hale-Bopp's tour of our inner solar system. We talked for nearly two hours as the company tried in vain to route him back to the dealership for another run! Thank you, Tom, for your inspiration and for awakening the astronomer and astro-photographer that I had always wanted to become. Enjoy the infinitely clear skies, in which you now reside. You are sorely missed by us all.
