I'm a retired Software Developer that has been an active amateur visual astronomer since about 1996. My interest in astronomy began when I was a teenager, but equipment to peruse this interest wasn't obtained until later in life. Career challenges hampered regular observing sessions, however I did attend several star parties, traveled to dark sites, and setup in my backyard as time permitted.
I've always had an interest in doing astrophotography but not the proper equipment or time. After retiring, I decided that I now had the time and the ability to obtain the necessary equipment to begin doing astrophotography. I started with my DSLR connected to my 8" SCT using a AVX mount. I had some success with this equipment but decided that a better mount would be required, so I purchased and CGX mount. This improved my captures considerably but I soon realize that the Texas summers caused the DSLR to get very warm, so I upgraded to a ZWO ASI071MC Pro dedicated astro-camera.
I joined Astrobin about the time that I obtained my new ZWO ASI071MC Pro camera, so most of the images on this site are with this camera. However, I have posted some of my images captured with the DSLR as well.
I'm constantly working to improve my skills at capturing and processing these astro images so hopefully as new images are added the quality will also improve.
