I began my interest in astronomy when I was 12 years old. In the mid '60's my father took me to visit a neighbor who showed me Saturn in his Questar telescope. I was hooked. In 1970 I received my first telescope, a 4" Tasco reflector. I enjoyed observing the moon, Saturn, Pleiades, and Orion. (I still have that telescope today!) After that I got involved in sports, particularly tennis, and that became my primary interest. I played Div 1 college tennis and life happened. I didn't do much with astronomy until 2000 when my wife purchased a ETX 90 scope from Meade which I enjoyed for many years. In 2010 I purchased a old Meade LX100 which I have used many times, but I broke down and purchased a more modern Celestron 9.25" SCT in 2020 during Covid and after I had retired from the automotive industry. Now I'm actively engaged in learning astrophotography as a vocation.
