Description

Popular object like the Cocoon rarely benefit from being presented in a larger FoV, but this time it is !
Paired with Sh2-124 it reveals a large area of faint Ha that, I admit, have been streched hard to reveal it's full presence. You can see how faint it is through DSS in rev B
Not sure you can find other reference of this area in Ha.

And putting this pair in a widefiled reveals a new cosmic animal to the mengarie namely the cosmic wasp where Sh2-124 is the eye and the curb ha area north of if his the antennaes while the Ha surrounding the cocoon are the legs. Wings and body are visible in the right and bottom right part of the image! Of course the Cocoon is a small bolt of honey ;)

I'm super happy with this series of Ha works with my widefiled set-up and I hope it will give some image reference for other imagers seeking cool regions to image.

Of note I was able to stepdown my canon lens down to f3.5 and keep acceptable stars. This fast ratio is ideal for my urban sky  (read Paris, Capital City of France)
