Description

This is pretty much the only target I shot in all of summer 2024. I've had to throw away probably at least half of the sub-frames across the six panels. Six panels at 2x drizzle is probably too much.

I was inspired to shoot this target to find out what was hidden off screen near the little dragon in the lower right of The Great Lacerta Nebula. And boy, oh boy, did I discover there is so much more to the dragon.

I really do need at least double the data and more consistent sky conditions to catch catch the amount of data that I'm trying. Or maybe I can just switch to Mono to get smoother signal at the lower levels. I've had to fight a lot of splotchiness in the data, and I've tried very hard to fix the obviousness of the seam lines between panels.

Anyway, I've been processing and reprocessing this over and over since August and I've finally gotten it to a point that I actually like it.

Also, the full-size version of this is so big that my computer would freeze every time I tried to plate solve it.

Panels:
  1. 1.1 - 260 x 300s = 21 h 40 min
  2. 1.2 - 202 x 300s = 16 h 50 min
  3. 1.3 - 224 x 300s = 18 h 40 min
  4. 2.1 - 294 x 300s = 24 h 30 min
  5. 2.2 - 177 x 300s = 14 h 45 min
  6. 2.3 - 151 x 300s = 12 h 35 min
