Description

Hello there,

During the clear nights of October Y2024 I turned my scope to NGC 246 - the Skull Nebula. I wanted to image this object for some time so I gave it a go.

Unfortunately it is a tough one for me. For my location it rises to the mere 35 degrees above the horizon and as you can imagine at that height the conditions are not good. I usually start to image my other objects when they reach 40 degrees above the horizon. So I dedicated one night for this test, managed to acquire 3 hours of material and moved on. Now I processed the data. The basic structure of the PN can be seen but the details are not sharp. Maybe in the future I will be able to acquire more data with better quality.

CS,
Ivan
