Description

Located in Serpens, the M5 globular cluster (also known as NGC 5904 or the Rose Cluster) is thought to have formed some 12 billion years ago.  Notably, the cluster has a number of younger blue stars known as stragglers that are thought to have formed from stellar collisions.
