Description

The Tarantula Nebula, also known as 30 Doradus, is over a thousand light-years across and is a giant star-forming region within the nearby satellite galaxy, the Large Magellanic Cloud. About 180,000 light-years away, is the formation region largest and most violent star known in the entire Local Group of galaxies.
Inside the Tarantula, intense radiation, stellar winds and supernova shocks from the young central cluster of massive stars energize the nebular glow and shape the spider filaments. Around the Tarantula there are other star-forming regions with star clusters young, filaments and clouds in the form of bubbles.
