Description

NGC4071 is a rarely-imaged planetary nebula in the deep southern constellation of Musca. Although measuring just 1' across and fairly faint at magnitude 13, the nebula shows some interesting structure including a two bright Ha bars, a dark central strip and a clear outer ring with prominent brightenings. In O3 there is less structure apparent. The sharpening program Registax was used to bring out more detail in the final image, which agrees well with the professionally acquired image below.
