Description

I've always wanted to see how my OSC 2600MC with the Antlia dual narrowband 5nm filter would compare to my mono 2600MM with Astrodon Ha 5mn filter.  This is not a scientifically valid test as the OSC was on my WO 120GT at 714mm focal length and the mono was on my WO 81GT.  Same nights imaging though.  (I didn't want to swap cameras to do a better test as I've finally nailed the tilt and backspace on both rigs).  For the OSC images, I extracted the Ha using APP's "extract Ha" routine which is designed specifically for OSC dual narrowband data.  My goal was to visually see if I could tell the difference.

Go ahead and pixel peep.   So the verdict is, wait for it, you can get decent Ha using a OSC camera together with these dual narrowband filters.  I've deliberately not labeled the version as to which is which 🤪.  I thought I'd certainly be able to tell  which one was the mono with Astrodon Ha filter... can you?

I'll post which is which one of these days 😂  -john

Oh, SH2-171, captured on Oct 9 and 10 (FULL MOON!!) from my bortle 7 backyard.
