Description

This has been the culmination of a life long dream. As a geriatric geeky millennial, I grew up in the 90s reading every little scrap I can find about space. Nothing was more fascinating at the time more than Hubble. The ups, downs and ups again. Some are fascinated by the image of "nothing". For me, the top picture of all time was the appropriately named "Pillars of Creation" that was published in 1995. I always hoped I could "see it" some day, but of course a few years into understanding our limitations, I always dreamt about capturing it. And it finally happened. In terms of astrophotography, I am a complete novice. I just started in February of this year. Until then I did not have the faintest clue of the very basics of telescopes or astrophotography. Fast forward three months later and now I am on my third scope, and started learning how to use Pixinsight in March. I started with the 533mc pro which I really liked, but now I upgraded to a 2600mm monochrome camera and a set of LRGB /SHO filters. I this I took this picture over two nights of 5/24 and 5/25/23. This is my first monochrome camera ever, and the first narrowband image I ever processed. I think so much more can be done with the data I captured in the hands of a more seasoned astrophotographers. The beauty of this is I can always reprocess the data in the future when I learn more.
