Description

Messier 83 or M83, also known as the Southern Pinwheel Galaxy and NGC 5236, is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 15 million light-years away in the constellation borders of Hydra and Centaurus. It is one of the closest and brightest barred spiral galaxies in the sky. It has an isophotal diameter at about 118,000 light-years. (Info from Wiki)

Actually, this image is my first one processed from data taken by a large telescope of an amateur hosting facility. I had only ever taken astrophotographs with my own small telescope with short focal length, so I was surprised at the size and resolution of the object in the image.
