Description

NGC 2146 is a magnitude 11.4 barred spiral in the constellation Camelopardalis. It is about 70 million light years away from us and has an apparent size of 6 x 3.4 arc minutes. The detailed structures in the dust lanes make this an interesting object.

Camera/Filters: Apogee Alta U8300 FLI CFW-2-7 FLI Filters

Guiding: guidescope

Exposure: Luminance: 14x5 minutes binned 2x2, R:10x5 min G:9x4 min B:14x5 min all binned 3x3 for a total of 3.8 hours: 47 subs at an avg of 289 seconds

Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing using Photoshop.
