Description

M31 The Andromeda Galaxy lies 2.3 million light years away. It's the nearest spiral galaxy to our own. It also has two companion galaxies, M 32 and M 110. M 32 actually passed through the disk of M 31 more than 200 million years ago. M 31 also appears to be interacting with m110 ( to the lower right), which contains a dust lane that may indicate recent star formation.

I used the L-eNhance filter to bring out the many red Ha regions which populate the spiral arms of Andromeda. All-in- all, I am pretty happy with the results! And pretty happy that the Monsoons that are usually underway here in the southwest deserts are keeping their distance from the valley.
