Description

Dear astronomers,

The weather was still bad in central Europe, so I decided to go for antoher remote astronomy dataset to keep the kids interested in astronomy and improve my LRGB processing skills.

When going for remote observatory datasets, I prefer objects of the southern hemisphere, which are not reachable with our telescope anyway.

I asked my now 10yo son to chose an object and he selected NGC 1512 of which - to be honest - I hadn't heard of before.

Luckily, NGC 1512 is a southern object, vailable on Telescope Live and very beautiful - unluckily, it was very hard to process and it took me quite some time to get to an acceptable result...

Fortunately, my son's happy with the result, although he still prefers the JWST and Hubble images of NGC1512 :-)

Hope you like it too and CS,
Timo

P.S. Although Pixinsights is able to identify 21 PGCgalaxies beyond the two main NGC objects, HyperLeda has only distance modulus values for one of them: PGC142211 is about 833 lightyears away.
