Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a spiral galaxy located 90 million light years away in the constellation of Hydra at a declination of -16 degrees.  It is a magnitude 11.3 galaxy which spans 2.5 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 70,000 light years.

From our view perspective, the disk is inclined about 15 degrees from edge-on.

I enjoyed this galaxy disk.  A small inner lens surrounds a non-barred bright core.  2 short stubby arms extend out from the lens.  A mid-region ring encircles these short arms.  The outer disk is diffuse with faint void regions at top and bottom.

Being a small isolated galaxy, it is not a surprise that this is a Astrobin debut object.
