Description

After finally getting my C9.25 edge HD working, I focused on ABell 39. Unfortunately, this target was set earlier this season, so I only had a few hours to capture data. Bad weather also limited my observing time for the next few days.
Despite these challenges, I collected 6 hours of OIII and Ha data and 45 minutes of RGB stars. The results are absolutely mesmerizing! ✨

Abell 39, a faint planetary nebula in the constellation Hercules. This deep space bubble is a planetary nebula that appears nearly perfectly spherical. The spherical shape is due to an expanding, glowing shell of ionized gas that was ejected from the evolving star. The central star is evolving into a hot white dwarf star. Because the gas is ionized, it is an emission-type nebula. Abell 39 is approximately 6,800 light years away from Earth and spanning around 5 light-years.
