Description

From December...starting to try to maybe someday catch up on my processing. 🤪   NGC1491 is also know as the Fossil Footprint Nebula, (not sure  I like the name), must be a difficult target to do well or to stand out in the crowd as no IOTD's for past 8 years and only 27 top pick or nominations.  Other than the bright core, it is quit faint.  As most of us feel...needs more integration and aperture.  I find this an interesting target due to the central star ionizing the bright pillars and the dark dust lanes.  Looking closely, there appears to be a Oiii arc above the star.   The new PI tools can really pull out the detail and are making things interesting for us backyard folks...even in bortle 7.  -john
