Description

The Great Sagittarius Cluster Messier 22 is a globular cluster in a densely packed group of stars near the center of the Milky Way. With around 80,000 stars, it is the brightest globular cluster visible from Europe. However, it is located deep in the south and therefore difficult to observe from Europe. It is estimated to be 12 billion years old, its apparent size corresponds to that of our full moon. A special characteristic is the discovery of two black holes in the globular cluster. It is also one of only four globular clusters that contain a planetary nebula. However, the nebula is no larger than a star in my image and therefore not recognizable.
