The weather has been terrible for astrophotography here in Denmark lately. I have had no sessions all October - sigh... So istead of gathering more data as originally planned, I will make do with three nights of RGB data.

I wanted to make a high resolution image of M31 and with my image scale of around 1.12 "/px, I need 3 panels to properly frame the galaxy.

Even thought I did my best to remove any gradients on the individual panels, and linear fitted them to match the background levels, I still had some ugly gradients around the stitching especially at tje edges. This made colour balancing tricky, and I think I am left with slightly funky colours in a few places.

I had planned to get Ha data as well, but as no clear nights came for over a month, I decided to try to use some old dual narrowband Ha data obtained with the ASI533 and an old canon lens. That data is upscalled 2.4 times to match the 130pds data, and even though the resolution is much lower, I think it worked surprisingly well! The resolution is provided by the new data and the Ha colour is accentuated by the old data. It was just added to the red and bloe channels to give the final colour splash!

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
