Description

Compilation of photos of the AR3780 from August 6 to 15, 2024.

The last time I made such a compilation covering eight days was 12 years ago. In the meantime, there were four-day observations, three-day observations, but not longer ones. This is just proof of how difficult it is to find good conditions when an interesting group of spots appears on the Sun.

I published most of the individual AR3780 photos, happy that the fully developed group emerged from behind the eastern edge and with each day the file with its photos grew. After two observations, a two-day period of bad weather came, but then I managed to use good visibility for six days.

Why the compilation? If only to observe the evolution of the active area - the possibility of a snapshot presentation of its dynamics, noticing various aspects related to the photosphere of the Sun. Throughout the transit period, the group had a magnetic class of beta-gamma-delta, which means that it was a bipolar group with different magnetic centers even within one spot. The proximity of magnetically opposed areas could lead to flare phenomena. Such a flare in the most energetic class X (X1.1) occurred on August 6. At the peak of its development, I estimated its area at about 1680 units (millionths of the visible hemisphere of the Sun). Over time, the area it occupied decreased to about 1000 units.

MAK150/1910 with Baader ND3.8 film filter on the lens, ASI290MM, Baader Solar Continuum and UV/IR-cut filter, EQ-ATM, FireCapture v2.7, Autostakkert!4, ImPPG. Gain 240/0.6m.
