Description

Not my data!

I came across this thread where the original poster (Mike) asked the community to process his captured data. This was a few months ago, but the thread just now got my attention.

With clouds having covered my area for almost two months now I'm glad I can at least do some processing while I wait for better times.

It was great processing some quality data for once. My own setup is pretty basic and extremely noisy, but I couldn't fine any noise whatsoever in this data! That definitely motivates me to get some better equipment.

I did the usual processing in PixInsight - DynamicBackgroundExtraction, LinearFit (with ChannelExtraction and ChannelCombination), BackgroundNeutralization, HistogramTransformation and SCNR to remove the greenish tint. I did not do any noise removal techniques because... well, there wasn't any! I moved over to Photoshop for curve stretching, Camera Raw color tweaks and cropping.

Thank you for letting us use this data!

BTW, I'm absolutely loving this starfield!
