Description

NGC3718 aka ARP214 is a strange galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major, about 52Mio LJ apart from Earth. It seems to have interacted with another galaxy, NGC3729, which is just a few hundred thousand lights apart. South of NGC3718, one can find the Hickson Compact Group 56, but this group of 4 galaxies is more than 4x distant than NGC3718.
The difficulty of this galaxy is in its very faint surrounding, but the clear nights, rare very good seeing (1,2-1,4) and the absence of strong moonlight made it possible to get it quite nicely.
