Description

SH2-114 The Flying Dragon

SH2-114 is a very faint H2 emission nebula in the constellation of Cygnus.
It appears to be part of a Super Nova Remnant but I don't think that has been confirmed.
To the left of the dragon is a planetary nebula LBN 333.

This faint object is difficult to process, my first try had  a very red background with few details.
For the next processing I used GraXpert to remove the gradients in the image - big improvement.

I probably should have rotated my camera 90 degrees.

For the stars I used the Narrowband Ha, Oiii, and Sii images.
In PixelMath -
     R/k: 0.4 * Ha + 0.6 * Sii
     G: 0.4 * Oiii + 0.3 * Ha + 0.3 * Sii
     B: Oiii
I believe this formula originally came from Bill Blanshan

I used all three (Ha, Sii, and Oiii) for the nebula but Oiii and Sii played a small part.
I think the Sii signal is why the red dragon has a bit of orange in it.

I hope you like it !
