Description

during re-processing of data acquired last March, I noticed a structure, near the core of the Rosette nebula (NGC 2237), that appears distinct from the surrounding gas and vaguely reminiscent of the famous "Squid" (OU4), within the Flying Bat nebula. This structure appears mostly OIII (bluish), as shown here in this cropped image. Of course the core of the Rosette nebula has been photographed hundreds of times, although processing techniques vary and can make a difference in fine detection of details. I plan to gather more data in the next season, and verify whether this is some processing artefact or it can be defined as a distinct entity. In the latter case, it would perhaps represent a "new" finding..
