Description

This is the Leo Triplet, a group of 3 galaxies in the constellation Leo. Their distance is about 35 million light years (11 Mpc). I like it because the three galaxies are in various inclinations to the line of sight. NGC 3626 (the "Hamburger Galaxy") is edge-on and shows some great dust lanes. The other two have nice spiral arms with young stars, as star formation is occurring within them. There are actually a few other tiny galaxies that can be seen if you look closely.
