In 1967 being a big fan of NASA and Star Trek , I got my first Scope an 80mm f/15 Tasco Refractor on an Alt-Az mount. This was an important moment in my life! I went from being a D student, just barely getting by, to an A student in Science, Math and History. This eventually lead to a degree in Electrical Engineering and a graduate degree in History of Science.
In the 70's I purchased my first C8, and tried my hand at Astrophotography. In those days it
was Hard!!!! The most success I had was by piggybacking a 135mm Camera lens on my C8. Life and career's happened and the hobby took a backseat for awhile. However, in this time frame I did make it to several Stellafane's in Springfield, Vt. I was living in Massachusetts. Now, that I'm retired I have more time. I'm a member of the Charlotte Amateur Astronomy Club. About 5 years ago I was at the clubs Observatory (Gayle H. Riggsbee Observatory in Taxaha, SC) and was watching several club members doing Astrophotography. I saw how much it had changed since the 70's and 80's, tried it, and now I'm hooked. Telescopes I Currently own : Meade 80mm f/6.0 APO Refractor, an Explorer Scientific 127mm CF APO Refractor, a Celestron Evolution 9.25 " SCT, and a Hubble Optics 18" DOB.
