Description

As we move into spring, here's a look back at a lovely region in the southeastern part of Canis Major that I captured over a few evenings last month under Bortle 1 skies in southwestern New Mexico before winter slipped away.  The NBColourMapper script in PI has made adding Ha data to RGB images much easier than it was in the past, which adds a new dimension to this image.  I hope you enjoy the view as much as I do.

There appear to be some additional smaller and dimmer reflection nebulae in this region besides vdB 96 and Bran 22C, within the bright arc of Ha emission in the upper part of the image.  If anyone knows their names, I'd love to hear them.  Thanks @Gary Imm for pointing out Bran 22C in the upper right near LDN 1664, to the right of the bright Ha emission arc.
